Olympic Games Case Study
Early in the year of 2004 FOC was approached by a Company that specialised in providing large scale communication integration and project management.
This Integration Company needed assistance with a pre-tendering bid that included a good deal of fibre products, installations and support services in order to be short-listed for the actual tender.
Everything became clearer as time progressed that whatever FOC had been asked to become involved with was on a grand scale. The integration company were indeed short-listed and more in-depth details were released to FOC about the application requirements, but nothing more was forthcoming on what the actual fibre products would be used for.
Then in 2005, the announcement came that London had won the 2012 Olympic Games. A few days later FOC were contacted by the integrator who informed the Directors that FOC would be supplying, installing fibre optic cable and equipment that would be used for these games. The picture below shows one of the two 6.7 km tunnels that FOC installed fibre within.
